SOUTHERN EXPERIENCE ‘WHERE I’M FROM’ (INDEPENDENT/USA IMPORT) As the bandname already might predict, this North Carolina, USA based band is focusing on Southern Rock and they do it quite well on their album ‘Where I’m from’. The production is very impressive (with a little help of MARSHALL TUCKER BAND members Rusty Milner and Tim Lawter) and the performance is excellent, with a nice balance between the instrumental parts and the vocals. With a name like that, these guys are certainly taking no chances in ensuring that this release reaches their desired market. Where I’m From’ is the debut full-length from this North Carolina foursome, and certainly is a hugely enjoyable ‘southern experience’ with ten well-crafted observations on life in the south. It’s the title-track that opens the album, and there’s a distinct vintage Lynyrd Skynyrd feel to it, both musi- cally and lyrically.

The Southern Experience Band released their debut EP (Beginnings) in 2011 and are back with their debut album. The album kicks off with a short intro before the first proper song, Where I’m from. It’s got a real Southern feel to it and really sets the tone for the rest of the album. It’s a great song, as is the second song, Make me or break me. Both are good rock tracks – not especially heavy, but with enough power that they’re clearly rock – and Southern rock at that. Fight the fight is a great song, slow and soulful, with lyrics about going to war.

Where I'm Coming From is a 1971 album by Stevie Wonder. The album was released by Motown Records on April 12, 1971 and peaked on the Billboard Pop Albums at and on the Billboard R&B Albums Chart at All nine songs were written by Wonder and Motown singer-songwriter Syreeta Wright, his first wife. It was the last album produced under his first contract with Motown Records. Including live albums, this is Stevie Wonder's fifteenth album overall, and thirteenth studio album.
