Complete your Ben Folds collection but I don't understand the 3 sides decision. If you are doing a double album, you should do 4 sides.

Rockin' the Suburbs" is a song by Ben Folds on the album of the same name. Folds stated of the inspiration for this song: "I used to do this big rant at the end of some gigs with Ben Folds Five. The band broke into this big heavy metal thing and I started as a joke to scream in a heavy metal falsetto. I found myself saying things like: Feel my pain, I am white, feel my pain. I was going to write this song about Korn. I don’t know, it wasn’t as funny when I directed it at somebody

Rockin' the Suburbs Tracklist. 1. Annie Waits Lyrics.

Rockin' the Suburbs is definitely a departure from Ben Folds's earlier work both musically and lyrically. He proves he can tackle very tough subjects yet still retain his sense of humor throughout. While at times the album may seem depressing, there is not a single truly weak song on the album. Some of my highest recommendations go to Still Fignting it, Carrying Cathy, and Not the Same. If you did not like Ben Folds Five, this album is different enough for you to try a listen.

Rockin' The Suburbs". Let me tell y'all what it's like Being male, middle-class and white It's a b tch, if you don't believe Listen up to my new CD (Sha-mon). I got sh t runnin' throught my brain It's so intense that I can't explain All alone in my white-boy pain Shake your booty while the band complains. I'm rockin' the suburbs Just like Michael Jackson did I'm rockin' the suburbs Except that he was talented I'm rockin' the suburbs I take the cheques and face the facts That some producer with computers fixes all.

Rockin' the Suburbs finds Folds largely backing off from the dramatic chamber-pop that characterized his last outing with Ben Folds Five, instead bringing in former Beck cohort DJ Swamp to provide beats for a few tracks, and playing most of the instruments himself (he's actually not a bad drummer or bassist). John Mark Painter's string arrangements can still be found on a few songs here, including a couple of the best ones, but they're decidedly downplayed. Then there's "Not the Same," a bizarre tale of a stoner who becomes born again after a drug experience. Hell, it's probably being wielded in some stereo war back home right now.

Regardless, Rockin' the Suburbs is as good a record as any he's made, possibly his best. It's still possible to hear his influences - Joe Jackson still stands out, as do elements of Billy Joel and Todd Rundgren - but there's no shame there, and he's accepted it as part of his musical personality so much that it sounds like him, even when it sounds familiar.
