Often cited as a pioneer in electronic music and sampling, The Art Of Noise used technology to rework the same recordings many times over, a novel approach at the time. In 1998, Horn, Dudley and Morley temporarily reformed The Art Of Noise with the addition of guitarist Lol Creme. The resulting album, The Seduction of Claude Debussy (1999), was another attempt to raid the 20th Century's musical forms, this time focusing on the life and work of longtime influence Debussy. The group went dormant again in 2000.

The Ambient Collection is a 1990 album compiling songs by the Art of Noise into a chill-out mix. The album was compiled and remixed by Youth, using songs from the Art of Noise albums In Visible Silence and In No Sense? Nonsense!, as well as the song "Island" from Below the Waste. The album spawned one single, "Art of Love". Nothing Was Going to Stop Them Then, Anyway (0:44).

Similarly, Lightfoot's reworking of "Yebo," Art of Noise's 1989 collaboration with South African singing group Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens retains only two syllables of the original vocal part. The question, then, is: If the rhythms are altered and the melodies disappear, what makes this an Art of Noise record? The answer: nothing. But, then, in the strange world of techno, all matters of source material and songwriting are bound to remain fuzzy. But since it has AON on it, it is in my collection, which I have every Art of Noise CD, album and 12" remixes made to date.

In June the Art of Noise’s debut album was released entitled (Who’s Afraid Of?) The Art Of Noise!, four months before it was released in the UK, it was vast re-working of a planned and scrapped album called Worship. The LP featured the two singles released in that year along with the full length version of Moments In Love that appeared on their debut extended play. The group played live in the USA before performing in London where they performed most of the album to their audience. Art of Noise also released two . surround sound SACDs in 2004, the compilation "daft" and Reconstructe. or Your Listening Pleasure, the soundtrack to their 2002 Into Vision DVD made up of performances from US & UK live shows.
