All Music News . Popular Choir Of St. John's College, Cambridge & Christopher Robinson Lyrics. 1. Give unto the Lord (Psalm XXIX), Op.

The Choir of St John's College, Cambridge is considered to be one of the finest collegiate choirs in the world. It is part of the English cathedral tradition, having been founded to sing the daily liturgy in the College Chapel, though it is set apart from other English choirs of this tradition by the frequent inclusion of Continental works in its repertoire and its emphasis on polyphonic interpretations.

Christopher Robinson's choir is on excellent form throughout, with especially clear diction. An atmospheric recording helps make this an outstanding contribution to Naxos's valuable series from St John's. This collection of Leighton's sacred choral music showcases the Choir of St John's College, Cambridge directed by Christopher Robinson, who present these rich, lush harmonies featuring subtle dissonance, rhythmic energy and a lilting, angular lyricism. This recording has been recorded at 24-bit resolution Recorded at St John’s College Chapel, Cambridge, UK, July 9 - 11, 2002 Producer: Andrew Walton (K&A Productions Lt.
