Clockwork was released June 8, 1973. Clockwork has been identified as Soul, Funk, R&B which may be partially due to their evolution. Today they play as Jimmy and the Soul Blazers, a soul/funk/rock music cover band from Alliance, Ohio. Clockwork is an album that will may remain obscure yet there is no soft commercial trite pop here it has a 60's West Coast psych sound.

Nearly six years after Queens of the Stone Age’s last studio album Era Vulgaris (2007) the California desert rock group were back with what many are considering their best album yet. Drearier than ever, lead guitarist and vocalist Josh Homme described where he was at in life and how everything could be a lot different after a freak accident that left him bedridden for months Li.

Like Clockwork, however, is more committed in its intent to invest the Queens with extra grandeur and grace, and all of the aforementioned guests are essentially accomplices in Homme’s regal aspirations. In other words, you’ll need liner notes to figure out most of the cameos). And don’t expect any party-crashing intrusions like Quick and to the Pointless from Oliveri; his duties don’t extend beyond backing vocals on a few tracks, as if his return to the group is on a probationary basis.

Like Clockwork was a huge risk. It’s one of the most hyped rock albums in recent memory (due in part to a big budget publicity campaign that included everything from a mockumentary film to animated shorts and cryptic letters). Yet it’s also the most ambitious Queens of the Stone Age record — both sonically and conceptually.
