  • Another landmark Australian album by a band that elevated hooky pop rock to new levels in a golden era for the genre. Australian Crawl - certainly not a band that was obviously in the teen market - appealed sufficiently to a cross-section of aussie youth that they bought this LP in droves, sending it to the top of the charts and spending a lengthy time hanging around there. James Reyne's famously slurred lyrics (on most songs) belie some really good song and lyric writing contributed by pretty much the whole band, each song being memorable and fun. Like all their work, this is suffused in Australiana (which would perhaps explain their inability to really look much beyond their local horizon and reference points, despite later American interest and adventures) and like vegemite you either loved or hated it - then and now.
