USA is a live album by the English band King Crimson, released in 1975. It was mostly recorded at the Casino, Asbury Park, New Jersey, on 28 June 1974. The exceptions are track 7, which was recorded at the Palace Theatre, Providence, Rhode Island, United States, on 30 June 1974, and Eddie Jobson's overdubs on tracks 2, 3 and 7, which were recorded in a studio. Live recording was performed by George Chkiantz and David Hewitt on the Record Plant NY Remote Truck.

Usa CD+DVD · Remastered Discipline 2013. This album came originally in 1975 well after the demise of King Crimson. this was a good album with good songs and a average sound. For the 30th anniversary,' USA 'has become a great album with great songs and an excellent sound. So actually, we cannot have the same perception of both versions.

As Robert Fripp had done with King Crimson's first live LP, Earthbound (1972), USA is a single-disc concert package documenting the quartet during its 1974 swing through North America. As with its predecessor, USA was also issued as a sonic cenotaph of the concurrently defunct Krim. So insistent that the band would not be resurrected, Fripp concluded the LP's liner notes at the time with another three-letter epitaph: ".

The position of this album in King Crimson’s discography was pretty significant. Their hiatus came to an end 7 years later, with what is generally viewed as the 3rd KC era, consisting of remaning 70’s members Robert Fripp and Bill Bruford, and the addition of bass man Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel) and rhythm guitarist/lead vocalist Adrian Belew (Talking Heads).

Best King Crimson Albums. The Top Ten. 1 In the Court of the Crimson King. When I first listened this album I was like in heaven. All 5 songs are fantastic. 21st Century Schizoid Man - An actual sign of early heavy metal! I Talk to the Wind - A nice, calming track after the chaos of the opener. Epitaph - A unique masterpiece with amazing strings. Moonchild - More like a movie soundtrack than a song, but amazing! The Court of the Crimson King - A closer that brings all songs together! In the courts of the crimson king, is the best prog rock album of all times! (after dark side of the moon)

  • For those who like live documents from the past, look no further than King Crimson USA (RIP). At least of this writing that is!I was fortunate enough to have seen them on this particular tour, of which I will say a couple of things for those not present. 1) Robert Fripp's comment that Bruford/Wetton were the sonic equivalent of a "flying brick wall" are absolutely true. 2) I've been to some of the loudest arena sized concerts on the planet (Yes, ELP, P.F.), I have NEVER seen several hundred people instantly move away from the stage en masse by several yards, but I witnessed this at the Cow Palace in SF during "Fracture". This after Strawbs and Ten Years After had played! Now, on to the music. This is an accurate, if somewhat flawed representation of what took place on stage. Granted, there was a lot of studio manipulation as the original mix with Cross' violin was lost in the mix for obvious reasons. So, Eddie Jobson was brought in to re-record those parts, and some of the songs as well are abbreviated. Besides that, you will marvel at the combination of the Bill Bruford and John Wetton rhythm section and Robert Fripp's pyrotechnics. We were treated to Red just a few brief months after seeing them on this tour. Sadly, Mr. Fripp decided to bring KC to a halt before Red was released. So this is the last statement of this amazing period for the band.My reason for a 3.5 star are thus. It depends on which version you get. The original contains truncated versions of the songs. The anniversary versions are better with additional material, but the addition of Eddie (love him though I do) and studio editing on a strictly purist level detracts from the overall performance and rating. On a sonic level, this is a 4 star effort. If you include studio manipulation, then Starless And Bible Black is also a mostly live recording. Still, this is a worthy addition if you have not purchased the (now eBay extortionately priced) live recordings issued in the 90's: The Great Deceiver box set. Also, the Night Watch is similar to this set and contains straightforward performances from 1973.
