The original sounds dated now but this is all about updating the tracks and giving them more relevance to a new generation of metal heads. Good Luck, you wont regret it. Battery- Machine Head As incendiary now as it was 20 years ago, this version by Machine Head benefits from Rob Flynns vocal style as opposed to James Hetfield who I felt just didnt cut it vocally till The Black Album. The galloping riff complements the verse and fast paced drums. The sledgehammer riff is present with a great sense of swirling chaos as the song descends into one of the best solos on the album and brings this cover album to its triumphant conclusion. 4/5. Style over substance" A little. Great songs, great bands" Defiantly! The original sounds alittle dated but it was ground breaking and a piece of metal greatness for sure.

Artist: Various Artists. Album: Heavy Metal Collections Vol. Released: 2017.

This collection of early-'80s metal bands has stayed in print for one reason only, Metallica. This is the first recorded appearance of the infamous foursome, and their immense mainstream success has managed to keep this from disappearing into obscurity. Influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (which included bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Saxon) but played with the fury of punk rock, this is where thrash metal really started

  • When I was single digit kid in the 90's, my mom and my older sister would play a cassette that gave me nightmares.I had never to my knowledge heard that music before; the lyrics stood out perfectly, I understood every word. Metallica's Black album scared me so bad, I hid the tape on a high shelf in my mom's bedroom. That was 1993. After I got into my double digits, I started developing a taste for Rock and, eventually, Metal. Having been my first experience with Metal, Metallica was my favorite of the two genres for the longest time. Enter 2005. A much younger and more able me enlists, with the sole intention of transitioning to a civilian version of my specialty. Also, Katrina, then Rita. Unable to contact my folks at home who hit the unlucky jackpot, I started stressing. Bad. I bought this album out of stress.I had never been exposed to so much... Metal.I mean, with the turn of the Millennium, I had been spoon-fed Nu-Metal by the local rock station, and late-night viewings of MTV and VH1, but this... This opened my eyes to Black Metal, Power Metal, Progressive Thrash, Melodic Death, and so much more! I have discovered hundreds of bands since first buying this CD; it opened my eyes to new (and old) subgenres of rock's meaner, faster, hard-hitting sister. Paragon, Throes of Dawn, Negator, Sebastian Bach, and so many more. I highly recommend this album as an eye opener gift for those friends of yours who only THINK they know about metal. Opera IX's heavy rendition of Bathory's ' One Rode To Asa Bay' May crack that bottle they've been living in, finally.
