Dark age - a matter of trust. DARK AGE present their seventh studio album. In 2008 Metal Hammer Germany already approved that DARK AGE "are playing the most modern Metal you can find these days - at least in Germany". Now the five bandmates are taking this quote to higher level: The new record "A MATTER OF TRUST" is pumping out of the speakers in the typical DARK AGE-sound with hard drums, shredding guitar riffs and electronic elements. DARK AGE have the courage to listen to their instincts and interpret their point of view: Grasp the mantle for your own fate and acknowledgement of your own value are issues of our time - and DARK AGE seize these topics. We feel confident that our fans are frank to walk the new musical way together with u.

Hurt Us Again For centuries, nature has been our predominant adversary in the struggle for survival. The development of our species, as the story goes, came only through our progressive mastery over the forces of nature. We first built our lives with little more than calloused hands and strong backs, and every subsequent development in production represented another stronghold in the battle for global agency

Little Dark Age is an album about certainties dissolving. Welcome to the shit-show/Grab a comfortable seat, VanWyngarden sings in the very first song, pretty much summing up the second half of the current decade. If we lose our touch/It won’t mean much, sings VanWyngarden, as if acknowledging their tenuous grasp on whatever brass ring the music industry once offered. The Beach Boys harmonies and Sgt. Pepper’s horns are familiar-it’s the first time on the album they sound like the old MGMT, really. The joke’s worn thin, he sings, early in the song, and, later, The smart ones exit early. It’s a long way from the rock-star fantasies of Time to Pretend. But if Little Dark Age is a new start, it’s a promising one.

Little Dark Age is audibly more rooted in mainstream mid-80s electronic pop than anything MGMT have recorded before: the title track is an uneasy take on the kind of super-smooth synth music that might once have cropped up on the soundtrack to Miami Vice, and One Thing Left To Try and TSLAMP reanimate a dreamily romantic Euro-pop sound. The off-key keyboards and perky female voiceover have a ring of smug parody, as if, like sometime collaborator Ariel Pink, they’re making pop music despite the fact that they think pop music is slightly beneath them.
