Superhero is a live album by singer/comedian Stephen Lynch. Priest", "Mother's Day" and "Lullaby (The Divorce Song)" were originally recorded on his first CD A Little Bit Special. It was recorded live at four different comedy clubs in New York and New Jersey. Along with A Little Bit Special and The Craig Machine, the album has sold over 250,000 copies

Recorded predominantly live is a definite plus, as the audience response gives the album a fuller dimension than if it was straight to tape. However, this is not an album for those with a weak constitution, as vulgarity is the norm rather than the exception. That said, it's perfect for college campuses nationwide.

Its funny the first couple times, but after that I just want to hear the song. Anyway the parts of the song you do hear are great, I love the melody, and Lynch's tongue in cheek humor really show through on the verses. What if that guy from Smashing Pumpkins lost his car keys" - 4/5 A very short and sweet track. Lynch does a dead on impression of Billy Corgan in the aggrivating situation of losing his car keys. 4 points for the impression alone. Mothers Day (live) - 3/5 Another track taken from his first album. This one is fairly short and very soft. The dialogue from Lynch at the end of the song makes this version a little funnier than the studio.

Superhero (Stephen Lynch album). All tracks written by Stephen Lynch.

Superhero by Stephen Lynch, released 14 January 2003 1. What If That Guy From Smashing Pumpkins Lost His Car Keys? 2. She Gotta Smile 3. Down To The Old Pub Instead. Whether he's singing an ode to "queer tattoos," telling his potential paramour all the things he won't be doing for her (he ain't fightin' no Lion), or lamenting his new vegan lifestyle ("Tofurkey? Tof k yourself- I want some meat"), Stephen Lynch will always consider himself "a musician trapped in the body of a comedian.

  • A great follow up to his debut, Lynch is once again firing on all cylinders. The opening two tracks are hysterical and the soft ballad “for the ladies” ends on one of his best written lines that draws an enormous noise from the live audience. Songs dealing with unwanted pregnancies, doctor visits, body exploitation, superheroes and much more, it’s worth the time to listen and laugh. Just bring your sense of humor!
