All I Know: An Anthology collects 21 tracks, mostly from Travis' 33 Records releases, dating back to 1993 and 2am, through albums like View from the Edge (1994), Earth to Ether (2004) and Double Talk (2007), through to Ascending, Live at the Pizza (2009). The emphasis is on original material, written alone or in collaboration, but the set's two covers, one on each of its two discs, reveal plenty. There's plenty more, from the all-improvised, folkloric and pastoral "Sand Dance," off 's Bodywork (1998)-the flautist's first recorded encounter with future Soft Machine Legacy mate, drummer John Marshall-to the d hysteria of guitarist John Etheridge's edgy solo on SML's Steam (MoonJune, 2007).

British musician Theo Travis has played on more than 100 albums since 1993. He has an attractive Michael Breckerish sound on uptempo tenor sax, a eppard feel on ballads and soft Latin themes, and a poignant ambient tone on flute – with the latter expanded by electronics and echo. Sometimes it's hard to banish the sound of John Thomson purring "n-i-i-i-c-e" from The Fast Show's Jazz Club under these softly throbbing grooves – and Travis plays a fair amount of music that wouldn't cause an upset on a restaurant soundtrack, or even in a lift.

D Project – Big Face. Theo Travis - All I Know : An Anthology. The Psychedelic Ensemble – The Myth Of Dying. Opus Symbiosis – Mute The album title All I Know : An Anthology pretty much speaks for itself, with main focus of the pieces reflecting Theo's jazzier work and in particular the 33 Records catalogue. Spanning eighteen years from his 1993 solo debut 2am, passing by the excellent Earth To Ether, through another DPRP recommended Double Talk and finishing up at 2009 with Ascending - Live At The Pizza. An anthology split into two distinct halves, the first CD is a slower paced, melodic offering whilst disc two is more up tempo and groove orientated. Oddly enough and considering Theo's presence within the prog.

All I Know: An Anthology is a double CD compilation of tracks taken from the back catalogue of Theo Travis. Travis emerged on the British jazz scene with his debut release 2 am in 1993, when he was named 'Best Newcomer' in the Financial Times. Since his celebrated debut, Theo has played at most of the major UK jazz festivals and jazz clubs, performed at Ronnie Scott's over 70 times and appeared at international jazz festivals the world over. The album features tracks from all of Theo's solo albums, in addition to recordings with Soft Machine Legacy, Palle Mikkelborg, Steve Lawson and the short lived, but highly acclaimed, improv trio, Marshall Travis Wood. The album has been mastered by twice Grammy nominated engineer Andy Jackson and is presented in a deluxe digipack with a beautiful 20 page booklet featuring many previously unseen photos of Theo and his various groups.

Saxophonist Theo Travis has been a significant presence on the British jazz scene for a couple of decades now, while simultaneously making a name for himself in ambient music and prog rock, notably as a member of Gong and Soft Machine Legacy. This nicely packaged two-CD retrospective concentrates mainly on his jazz output, from his 1993 debut 2 am through to a live cut from 2009, and includes his celebrated take on King Crimson’s ‘21st Century Schizoid Man’.
