The Soundstage Sessions is the tenth album released by American singer-songwriter and Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks. Although it is the first live album of Nicks's solo career, it was produced to sound like a studio album. The Soundstage Sessions was recorded in October 2007 before an intimate audience at WTTW's Grainger Studio in Chicago, with the set list containing 18 songs. In early 2008, Nicks went to Nashville and entered the studio with director/producer Joe Thomas.

This fidelity isn't necessarily a bad thing, as the performance has a tight West Coast studio pro feel (a vibe partially achieved by Waddy Wachtel's presence as a co-producer) and Nicks is in good form, never pushing too hard, never straining, always sounding assured even when she's.

The Soundstage Sessions is the tenth album released by American singer-songwriter and Fleetwood Mac vocalist Stevie Nicks. Featuring Vanessa Carlton. Producers Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Iovine, Joe Thomas & 5 more. Writers Bonnie Raitt, Prince, Sandy Stewart & 1 more.

Drawn from a 2007 PBS TV performance, The Soundstage Sessions finds Stevie Nicks reconsidering her song catalog with a reflective, insightful spirit. Arena rock overkill and diva dramatics are largely absent; these tunes are handled with affection and subtlety, revealing fresh colors. Nicks’ husky vocals are as seductive as ever, especially when applied to mystically tinged material like Sorcerer and Circle Dance

Stevie Nicks' voice is one of the musical wonders of the world – she's almost alone in making the concept of adult oriented rock seem enticing and not a soul-crushing bore – so any opportunity to hear it in full flight, such as this televised concert, is welcome. Nicks's stripped-down versions of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" and "Sara" are things of traffic-stopping beauty. Pick of the album: Where everyone would love to drown: 'Sara'. We’ll tell you what’s true. You can form your own view.

Stevie Nicks, rock's superstar chanteuse, performs her signature songs with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Fleetwood Mac and her acclaimed solo career on Live In Chicago. Recorded at her October 2007 'Soundstage' performance. Although not all "new" songs, "The Soundstage Sessions" is Stevie's first live album, and first album of completely new recordings in 8 years. What makes this album so special is that it was produced to sound like a studio album. The album was recorded at Grainger Studio in Oct. 2007, and Stevie is proud of the amount of post-production work that has gone into this release. Stevie is also a master of sequencing, and each song flows into the next seamlessly. Stand Back" opens up the album, and gets everything going

  • Released in 2009, "The Soundstage Sessions" marks Stevie Nicks' first live album as a solo artist. The album finds Nicks running through her hits as a solo act and with Fleetwood Mac. While they never surpass the original studio versions, the live takes of "Sara" and "Stand Back" do have a bit more of an intensity than their easy going studio brethren. The rest of the album is made up of a few obscure album tracks from Nicks' solo work like, such as "How Still My Love" from 1981's platinum selling money maker "Bella Donna" and "Beauty and The Beast" from 1983's version of "Bella Donna" "The Wild Heart". Also, the sensual cover of Dave Matthews' "Crash Into Me" is a good touch. The album is perfectly fine, but the production is quite puzzling. Despite being recorded live, the album is made to sound like a studio effort. Which is fine, but considering it's Nicks' first ever live album, it's a little bit of a let down. However, it is a nice mini-compilation/retrospective of some of Nicks' finest tracks and a nice run through of her hits. While it's not as raw as one would hope, it's still a nice polished picture of the bewitching and awe inspiring Stevie Nicks.Final Rating-7/10Stand-Out Tracks-"Stand Back", "Sara" and "Crash Into Me"
