Stryper is an American Christian metal band from Orange County, California. The group's lineup consists of Michael Sweet (lead vocals, guitar), Oz Fox (guitar), Perry Richardson (bass guitar), and Robert Sweet (drums). Formed in 1983 as Roxx Regime, the band soon changed their musical message to reflect their Christian beliefs, and the band's name was also changed to Stryper. They went on to become the first overtly Christian heavy metal band to gain acceptance in the mainstream.

In The Beginning is a glam metal music movie recording by STRYPER released in 1988 on CD, LP/Vinyl and/or cassette. STRYPER - In The Beginning. com - the ultimate metal music online community, from the creators of progarchives.

Stryper recently released their 10th album, God Damn Evil. And while it has many of the band hallmarks fans can expect, there are also some songs where the group ventures into unfamiliar waters. As frontman Michael Sweet tells us, his intent for the record, which has been blackballed by Walmart, and its title track was to bridge the band's past and the present. If you’re beginning to wonder where this ride is heading, the next two songs on the album, Sorry and Lost, quickly pull things back into classic Stryper anthem territory. Rob Halford-esque vocals kick in as Sweet hits the chorus on Lost, which was one of the first songs he worked on for the album, triggering a productive period that found him completing the bulk of the writing in less than two weeks. Sorry and in particular, God Damn Evil, prove that the band hasn't lost its knack for creating memorable grooves and choruses.

Stryper, originally known as Roxx Regime, was formed in Orange County, California by brothers Michael and Robert Sweet and guitarist Oz Fox. Stryper stands for Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace, Encouragement and Righteousness. The Isaiah 53:5 under their logo is the bible verse that states "by His stripes we are healed". Their first full-length release, Soldiers Under Command (SUC), sold over half a million units worldwide in the eighties, and stayed on Billboard's Top 200 album chart for over forty weeks. In addition to the hard-rocking tunes that Stryper's core audience has come to expect, the ballad "Honestly" from their platinum selling 1986 release To Hell With The Devil (THWTD) hit the Top-40 charts.

The album quickly rose the charts, and reached the CCM Top Five, after a new record deal with Myrrh Records, they followed with an experimental acoustic album Swing, Swang, Swung in 1994. The album was recorded in producers garage and featured a stripped down, also, the bands first Spanish album Nunca Te Dire Adiós was released in 1995-rising the bands popularity in Latin America. In the mid-1980s, Stryper enjoyed their most successful period beginning with the release of To Hell with the Devil, Stryper went on to release two more gold albums before breaking up in 1992. In 2003, Stryper came out of retirement for a reunion tour, the name Stryper derives from the King James Version of the Bible.
