These are the words used to describe Minazo on important records releases page: A ringing sound, quickly followed by bleeps and a thumping- almost like a hear beat
Minazo is not only the name of an album by Masami Akita (Merzbow), it was the name of an elephant seal who passed away in a Japanese Aquarium in 2005. Minazo, who passed away at the age of 11 when the average life expectancy for such an animal is 20, was the only elephant seal in Japan and was brought from Uruguay in 1995.
Merzbow – Minazo Volume 1. Label: Important Records (2) – imprec097. Sadness and Anger, you see, inspired this album. Merzbow sets about his layered, textured aural assault to inflict pain on the listener, to show the mad, uncontrollable rage of the over-abused sea-life in our world today. Land Of Sea Mammal" hurls looping bass with supercharged high frequency squeals across the land. It stutters crazily, moans maniacally, and genius of geniuses, sounds like a very sick Minazo. The breeze on "Sea Breeze" is a torrential sleet of slicing noise advancing inland to wreck havoc on earth.
