1962 album from the Jazz composer and pianist. The album's hit single, 'Cast Your Fate To The Wind', won Guaraldi a Grammy and introduced him to a mainstream audience, who would later embrace the music he created for a host of Peanuts TV specials. When I first saw the Brazillian movie "Black Orpheus" in the 1960s (it won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1959), I was taken not only with a wonderful modern-day retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Euridyce but also with the fabulous music that pulsed through it. The Bonfa/Jobim score has an incredible energy, and Guaraldi's jazz interpretation of it is sheer joy. "Manha de Carnaval" was popularized in the . by vocalist Jack Jones, under the name of "A Day in the Life of a Fool.

Jazz Impressions of Black Orpheus is an album by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, released in 1962 on Fantasy Records. The album contains both original compositions and covers of songs from the 1959 film Black Orpheus. It spawned the hit single "Cast Your Fate to the Wind", which won the 1963 Grammy Award for Best Original Jazz Composition. Some later pressings of the LP have the single's title displayed prominently at the top of the cover, and the album title in the box underneath.

The album contains both original compositions and covers of songs from the 1959 film Black Orpheus. Consequently, this album is often referred to as "Cast Your Fate to the Wind

Jazz Orpheus by Daniel Brick. Bring your silver fluteto the crossroadswhere the living haunt the dead. Bring your silver flute to the crossroads where the living haunt the dead, Jazz Orpheus, and play a dozen riffs on the standards 'Bringing back the Dead' and 'Making the Dogs Howl in Harmony. Look in every direction before you play, you're free to turn in a complete circle. The young woman with the sad eyes standing under the willow tree will guide you across every threshold and she will place in your hands cool fruits which grow sweeter with every song you play. Marvellous expression with excellent phraseology. Valsa George (9/27/2015 7:17:00 AM). A wonderful rewriting of Orpheus- Eurydice legend in a different way! How powerfully you have delineated the bewitching spell of music on the living and the dead!
